2023 SA Golf Industry Awards recognition for Jones

Close to 250 guests from throughout South Australian golf were on hand to celebrate at the 2023 South Australian Golf Industry Awards Night where clubs and representatives from all over the state were acknowledged for the amazing work being done across all areas of the sport, from administrators to coaches, clubs and athletes.

Among the awards presented on the night was the PGA South Australia Coach of the Year for High Performance, which was awarded to Gareth Jones, in recognition of his outstanding work as Head Coach with Japan Golf, and in his role overseeing coaching at the Glenelg Golf Club Coaching Academy.

In announcing the award, it was noted that Jones continues to “push the Japan Golf Association National Team to world class standards with a performance program that has the intention of lifting the profile of golf not only in Japan but in the Asia Pacific.”

Jones, who holds Advanced status in the ACE Program for coaching, consistently attends relevant PGA education summits and webinars, with his students benefiting from his extensive knowledge and experience, both in the amateur and professional ranks.

Some of the incredible results from his players over the last 12 months include students Keita Nakajima, Takumi Kanaya and Teiga Semikawa sitting at numbers 1, 2 and 3 on the Japan Tour’s money list.
